The US, at the turn of the millennium, through a commission of notables in the various areas of activity, sought to foresee certain competitive scenarios. One of the members of the group, Dr. Jo Yudess, a Creative Process Specialist at Buffalo State College, at one of the meetings at the Creative Education Foundation, told me a little about the conclusions of that select team.
Almost two decades later, we have no doubt that the best is to take into account those indications, because the evidence confirms certain trends about which it is worth casting a more active look:
1 – Technology: which is cheaper and more available every day, will not be the decisive strategic differential for the winning organizations;
2 – Capital: is more abundant every day in the business world, will not be the privilege of a few. Good business projects will increasingly attract the capital they need in compatible quantities, timeframes and costs;
3 – Logistics: is cheaper and more available by the day, it favors access;
4 – Knowledge: its production is at levels never seen before and its availability is much more egalitarian through the web.
Thus concluded the investigations that the strategic battle will be through gray matter. The great challenge of organizations will be to attract and maintain intelligence, an essential raw material to reinvent itself in face of the different demands of the new economy and new generations.
And this is no easy task. They are minds shaped in a new reality that don’t fit naturally in the traditional and rigid organizational processes. Plus: intelligence, in order to become a strategic differential, will require the construction of an environment conducive to the creation and use of tools that only the study and practice of creative process methodologies can provide.
More than ever before, this period of excessive information and little direction requires from each of us the mental capacity to CREATE FOCUS and creatively build the path to get there!
